Carl was born in Hammond, IN, on October 3, 1934, to the late Katherine and Henry Aderhold. He graduated from Hammond High School in 1952, and went on to study Mechanical Engineering for two years before enlisting in the United States Army in 1955. During his military service, Carl specialized in Guided Missile Mechanical Systems Repair and proudly served until 1957.
In 1957, Carl married the love of his life, Laura Marie “Laurie” (Bohling) Aderhold. They shared 34 years of marriage before her passing in 1991. Carl later married Betty Lorrine McCoy-Aderhold, with whom he shared many wonderful years until her passing in 2022. They especially enjoyed their winters in Sun City West, AZ, where Carl loved the warmth and joys of condo living.
A gifted and resourceful man, Carl was an entrepreneur who put his mechanical talents to work throughout his life. He worked as a machinist, carpenter, and painting contractor, operating his own business, aptly named Ad Engineering. He took great pride in his ability to build, repair, create, and solve problems with his hands and his mind.
After retiring, Carl built his home on Lake Dalecarlia, creating a place filled with memories, friendships, family, and love. He was blessed with a life rich in experiences and surrounded by people who cared deeply for him.
Carl is survived by his son, Carl Jr. (Sue) Aderhold, and his son, Steven (Jean) Aderhold; grandchildren, Corinne (Casey) Earle, Jessica (Dan) Bucher, and Carl III (Samantha) Aderhold; step-grandchildren, Rebecca (Jesse) Mickley, and Trey (Shelby) Wright; and six great-grandchildren.
Carl leaves behind a legacy of hard work, ingenuity, perseverance, friendship and, most importantly, love for his family. He touched many lives through his kindness, humor, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His family is deeply grateful to everyone who supported, cared for, and loved Carl throughout his life.
He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
