Columbus Lamont Newton, age 87, of Hammond, Indiana passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Monnie; one daughter Denise Cather; one son Doug (Patty) Newton; three grandchildren Daniele, Patricia, and Hannah; three great-grandchildren Kaleb, Brooklyn, and Karley; one sister Rose Warren. He was preceded in death by his son Dewayne; granddaughter Rachelle; and many brothers and sisters. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM followed by a funeral service starting at 7:00 PM. Pastor Anthony Cox will be officiating at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. There will be a private family burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
