Dale Hinkel

Dale Hinkel, age 72, of Terre Haute, formerly of Highland and Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Hammond, IN on April, 2, 1942 to John and Dorothy Grimmer Hinkel. He was a carpenter by trade, employed at Refractory Engineers in Indianapolis, IN, and was in the United States Army. He was a 16 year coach in Highland Youth Softball and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sullivan, IN. Preceding him in death are his parents. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Jean Reder Hinkel whom he married on April 20, 1963, in St. Mary’s Church in Griffith, IN; four children: Mark and his wife Jenn Hinkel, Joseph and Angie Hinkel, Mary and Keith Doi, John and April Hinkel; brother, Wayne Hinkel; and 12 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN with Rev. Pat Gaza officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family Thursday, August 7, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Additional visitation will be held Friday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the church.
