Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley George; parents, Dale and Zelma George; and siblings, Jane Miller (Ted), Joanne Stephensen (Joe) and Larry George (Mary Sue).
He is survived by his son, Shawn; and daughter, Danielle; son-in-law, Dan; and grandchildren, Kenny and Zachary. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Danny graduated from Morton High School and attended the University of Indianapolis, where he ran track and played football. He served in the Army from 1961-1963 and received commendations for being a Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14 and 45 Cal Pistol) and 81 MM Mortar Expert. He married Shirley Rosenau on November 13, 1965, and they had two children, Danielle and Shawn. He raised his children from the ages of eight and six after Shirley passed away in 1977. Danny is a retired Switchman at EJ & E Railroad where he worked for over 20 years. Danny loved telling stories, particularly about his time in the military. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, playing the piano and riding his bicycle. He was a devoted Christian who loved his family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM, at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. The funeral service will take place at 12:30 PM, followed by interment at Calumet Park Cemetery.
