DAVID F. DORSEY HAMMOND, IN David F. Dorsey, 62 of Hammond, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, October 12, 2012 at William J. Riley Memorial Residence in Munster, IN. He was the beloved husband of Helen (nee Howe) Dorsey; cherished son of Francis "Joe" and Rosemary "Dolly" Dorsey, formerly of Hammond; loving father of Jerri (nee Austin) (Brian) Lowry and William (Stacey) Austin; exceptional brother of Thomas Arthur (Diane) Dorsey of Schererville, IN, Richard J. (Janis) Dorsey of Avon, IN and Pamela F. Dorsey (Beth Mathioudakis) of Indianapolis, IN; and he was the proud "Papa" of Mary Catherine, Joe and Jack Lowry of Whiting, IN Lauren and Julia Austin of Northville, MI. He leaves behind a loving extended family; and best friend, Barry Ward. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Rd. (two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. He was born on July 2, 1950. David was a lifelong Hammond resident, serving as 4th District precinct committeeman for a number of years, an avid Chicago Bears fan and Harley Davidson enthusiast. He retired from Arcelor Mittal after 42 years of service. The family is grateful for the compassionate care he received in his final days and would like to thank the nurses, staff and volunteers of Riley Home.
