David Vernon Kelly

David is the loving husband to Dorothy Whited; beloved father to Mark (Carol) Kelly; proud grandfather to Erika (Joseph Mates) Kelly, Evan Kelly, Olivia Kelly and Alexis Kelly; great-grandfather to Finn and Miles Mates; cherished brother to James Kelly, the late Cleta Moore, and the late Marie Clarke; husband to the late Lora Kelly; and uncle to many.

David honorably served in the United States Army from 1946-1948. He met Lora in 1948 in Denver, CO and

they married in Harlan County, KY. He retired after forty years of faithful service at Standard Forgings of East Chicago. David was a long-time resident of Highland and attended Calvary Baptist Church of Highland. After the passing of his beloved wife, Lora, he was reunited with his high school sweetheart in the Appalachians, Dorothy Whited. They were lucky to share the last 10 years with each other. David will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Graveside services will be Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 8178 Cline Avenue, Crown Point, IN 46307.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given toward the American Heart Association.
