Donald L. Crane Sr.

Donald L. Crane Sr., age 90, of Hammond, IN passed away, Thursday, November 26, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosella; five children: Donald L. (Candi) Crane Jr. of Hammond, IN, Dannielle (Edward) Roszkowski of Hammond, IN, Dennis Crane of Hammond, IN, Jeffery (Louise) Crane of Hobart, IN and Karen (Raymond) Opperman of Cedar Lake, IN; four grandchildren: Annette (Joseph) Coates of Valparaiso, IN, Raymond Opperman III of DeMotte, IN, Andrew Roszkowski of Hammond, IN and Jerry Opperman of Cedar Lake, IN; two great-grandchildren: Abigail and Rebecca Coates of Valparaiso, IN; two brothers: Robert (Bertha) Crane Calumet City, IL and Russell (Corky) Crane of Crown Point, IN; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mr Crane was preceded in death by his parents: Wilbur G. and Grace Crane; brother, Wilbur L. Crane and sister, Marilyn Gellersen. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, 11:30 A.M. December 2, 2009 at Kuiper Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Orlinski officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 9039 Kleinman Road, (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Mr. Crane was retired from Inland Steel with 43 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #330 of Calumet City who will hold services at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Crane repaired televisions, radios and cars for many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald's loving memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
