Dorothy (nee Patrick) Gregor, of Whiting, IN left this earth to be with the love of her life on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Monday, December 8, 2014 after a joyful life on this earth. She was surrounded by her children when she received her last anointing and said her last prayers. Everyone gets a mother, but the truly fortunate get a Mom. She knew how to fix everything from scraped knees to broken hearts and always made everyone around her feel warm, safe and nurtured. She was 89 and a half years young when she went to Heaven to be with her husband, Edward Gregor, who preceded her in Eternal Life. Our family Matriarch –lovingly nicknamed “cruise director” will be sorely missed and remembered always. Her traditions and spirit will live on and be carried out in her memory. She leaves behind her dearest possessions, her children: Kathy (Rick) Mindock of Manassas, Virginia, Bill Gregor of Knox, IN, Mary Lu (Jeff) Cowley, Ed Gregor and Chris Gregor all of Whiting; Grandchildren Peter (Danielle) Mindock of Culpeper, VA, Matthew Mindock of Manassas, VA, Dr. Rebecca (husband, Jeff Butler) Mindock of Mobile, Alabama, Natalie Cowley of Kasigluk, Alaska, Mallory (Scott) Adams of Cedar Lake, Shelby Cowley of Chicago and Wyatt Cowley of Phoenix, Arizona and two Great Granddaughters Melia Mindock of Culpeper, Virginia and Felicity Shay Adams of Cedar Lake. She leaves behind her beloved little sister, Josephine Patrick, and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a “second” Mom to many and she will still be available to all of you: just dial PRAYER and she’ll hear you! She lived to make sure those she loved were happy and went to great lengths to lighten everyone’s worries. In addition to her husband of 58 earth years, she will also reunite with her parents, Joseph and Mary (Kochis) Patrick, sisters Marie Yakish, Ann Ference, Betty and Helen Patrick, Theresa Wilson, brother, Jerry Patrick, Grandpa and Granny Gregor, brothers- in-law, sisters- in- law, aunts and uncles. Hopefully they’ve made Halupki—her favorite. I’m sure Daddy has been planting flowers for her in Heaven for the last eight years. The true perennial garden should be in full bloom by now; so in lieu of flowers—hug your child, pet your dog, share your love with those in your life because that’s exactly what she would have wanted. Do something silly, take life a little less serious and remember her always with a smile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. DIRECTLY at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1731 LaPorte Ave., Whiting, IN with Rev. Stanley Dominik officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 4:00 p.m.-8:00p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Please visit: www.kuiperfh.com.
