Elsie M. Thomas (nee Shackelford), age 89, of Gary, IN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving, dedicated husband of 48 years, Edsel Thomas. She is survived by her daughters Jean (Les) Konicki, and Roberta (Richard) Schultz; son Eugene (Denise) Climer; sister Mary Lou Kristoff; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; step children Diane Brackett, Ray (Patty) Thomas, and James (Mary) Thomas; and nephew Ron (Beverly) Kristoff. Funeral services will be held at Wheatfield Salem United Methodist Church, 95th and Book Road, Naperville, IL on Tuesday, February 3 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jen Wilson officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church before the service. Elsie attended Gary Lew Wallace High School. She was a dedicated long term employee of Continental Trailways in Chicago demonstrating her faith by serving and helping others. Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood IL.
