Fannie Mae Lee Westbrooks

FANNIE MAE WESTBROOKS (NEE LEE) GARY, IN Fannie Mae Westbrooks (nee Lee) age 88, of Gary, IN was born in Fosters, AL on the first of August, 1923. She was an avid gardener, growing seasonal vegetables, a variety of flowers, and tending an assortment of fruit trees for many years on her property in th Black Oak neighborhood of Gary, IN. She was an incredibly strong-willed woman and served as the matriarch of her large, extended family across many generations and decades. She entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday morning, the 24th of December, 2011, and was preceded by her husband, Loyce Lee Westbrooks, and their daughter, Brenda Joyce Tallon. She is survived by her remaining six children: Doris Joan (Larry) Dutton, Janice Lee (Jack) Fitzpatrick, Larry Neil Westbrooks, Donald Ray Westbrooks, James Eugene (Diane) Westbrooks and Kenneth Alan (Laura)Westbrooks; more than seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland with Pastor Robert Parnell officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fannie Mae's loving memory to either Whispering Pines (3301 N. Calumet Ave., Valparaiso, IN 46383) or the VNA Hospice of Valparaiso (2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383) for their kind and constant care for both Fannie Mae and her family in her final days on this earth.
