My family and I had the privilege of being next-door neighbors to the Doris and Frederick McKinney, Sr. for 30+ years. Even though I no longer live next door, we continue to maintain a relationship...we are neighbors and friends forever! My memories of Frederick ( we called his dad Fred) span from him as a young schoolboy to that of a young man who created his own family. I remember Frederick as being somewhat quiet in his youth, very likable, always respectful, and always having a smile. I remember when Frederick became an adult and started his own family, he remained respectful and loyal to his parents. Like his father, Frederick, Sr., he had a strong work ethic and was a responsible family man. As parents, we never want to believe that our children will leave this life before us, however, as parents, we also know and accept that we have no control over who or when. Doris, I believe that you will forever remember how blessed you are to have had Frederick in your physical life for almost 61 years, and with you in memories for the rest of your life. You and Fred did a magnificent job as parents of this young man and your other 5 children. You and your husband, Frederick J. McKinney, Sr. made a difference for all of your children, and Frederick, Jr. was the proof of your unconditional care and love.

Lovingly,
Rosemary Steward

To the Family of Freddy our deepest condolences to you all. Fred and I worked together For many years starting back in Chicago Central. There were many days of us paying for our mistakes as starting linemen in the Overhead Department. Go to the store the senior linemen would say and of course we complied. It was all in fun and a tradition of coming up in the Overhead. RIP my linemen brother and don’t forget, for those that preceded you you must go to store for them one lat time . Love the Pegues Family
