George Francis Dorin

George Francis Dorin, age 87, of Griffith, IN passed away Friday, December 30, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Elizabeth Dorin; three sons: Ben Francis (Melanie) Dorin, George “Greg” (Colleen) Dorin and Ronald (fiancée Tamara) Dorin; nine grandchildren: Michael (Cindy) Dorin, Beth (Brandon) Velez, Jason (Lauren) Dorin, Patrick (fiancée Ashley) Dorin, Rosetta (William Mills) Dorin, Rhiannon Dorin, Bambi (Brian) Stoller, Rachael Albrecht and Bernie (Heather) Dorin; 24 great grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Coffman. Mr. Dorin was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Coleman; mother, Betty Jones; and father, George Dorin. A celebration of George’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN with Spiritual Leader of Myaamia People, Jay Hartleroad officiating. Cremation will follow service. Friends are invited to meet with the family from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Kuiper Funeral Home. George was a member of the Myaamia Tribe of Oklahoma/Indiana and was on the Tribal Council for over 20 years. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. George was a retired truck driver with various companies. He was a District Commissioner for the Boy Scouts (Calumet Council). George enjoyed dancing, Big Band music and fast cars.
