WEBSTER – Georgianna “Georgi/Geo” (nee Spila), age 55, of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away from this world in her parent’s home surrounded by family and friends on September 13, 2023 to join her father “Pop”, Retired Sergeant George A. Spila of Chicago P.D. and all loved ones that had gone before her. She will be missed by her husband, Bruce; her mother “Ma”, Katherine (Ben) Jankowski; her sisters, Jeanne (Wayne) Blair, Kathie "Spila" Small, and Peggy (James) Newsom; stepbrother, Benjamin (Mary) Jankowski; along with several nieces and nephews: Kristyn (Matthew), Andrew, Pamela (Eric), Timothy, Christine, Alanna, Ayden, Alex, Noah, Nevin, Stacy, Carrie, Matthew and Michael, all of whom she loved and treated as if they were her own children; and last, but not least, her special friend, Eddie, who was so very near and dear to her heart.
Georgi/Geo was known for the beautiful, energetic, bright light she brought to every room or gathering she was a part of. In her world, the Cubs ruled (the most serious fan!), was selflessly devoted to Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade (Chicago) for many years, thoroughly prided herself on her bartending skills and found golf relaxing. She was smart, savvy, quick-witted and didn’t hesitate to stand up for what she considered “right”. That probably explains why she was so impassioned with her career in insurance litigation. Her heart loved so deeply that family and friends could “feel” it when she was near.
A ”Taco Party” will be held on October 14th, 12pm – 4:30pm at Hawthorne’s Backyard to celebrate her life per her request. All are welcome to join the “Geo Fest” in memory of this epically loved woman.
