Gregg Kratochvil

Gregg Kratochvil, age 72, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away on March 14, 2026. Gregg was born on January 1, 1954, in Hammond, IN, to the late Mary Jo (nee Southard) Kratochvil and Joseph Kratochvil. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie; children, Eric (Rhonda) Kratochvil, Aaron (Megan) Kratochvil, and Amy (Ryan) Geib; and grandchildren, Madison Guyaux, Tristin Centala, Olivia Goss, Ava Kratochvil, Aaron Kratochvil II, Tyler Geib, and Rylee Geib.

A proud and dedicated union steel worker and millwright, Gregg devoted over three decades of his life, from 1976 to 2009, to his craft, earning the respect of his colleagues through his skill, work ethic, and unwavering commitment.

Beyond his work, Gregg was a pillar of his community. In the early 2000s, he served as president of the Hobart Football Booster Club, where his passion for supporting young athletes left a lasting impact. He rarely missed a game or practice, faithfully attending his children's and grandchildren’s many sporting events.

Gregg found joy in life’s simple pleasures; casting a line while fishing, working with his hands on woodworking projects, and appreciating the artistry of tattoos. He had a love for firearms, a fascination with sports cars, and could often be found enjoying good food and company at his favorite local spots. A devoted fan, Gregg followed football closely, especially his favorite teams like the Hobart Brickies, Notre Dame, and the Bears. Also, he never passed up the chance to unwind with a classic Hallmark movie.

Gregg's presence brought warmth and laughter to those around him, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. A celebration of life will be held in Gregg's honor on Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at Hobart Moose Lodge, 143 South Hobart Road, Hobart, IN, from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
