Halina (Czyz) Ruszkiewicz was born in Ostrowicz SW, Poland, on September 4, 1942. She came to the United States in 1964 when she was 22 years old with her husband, Andrew, and two-year-old daughter, Tamara. Halina retired from JC Penney drapery department as a Line Leader in the Village (Gary, IN). She also had her Beautician license and did hair for friends and family. She loved camping, sewing, cooking, baking, crocheting, and spending quality time with her family. Most of all, she loved spending the summers with all the children in the family -- they were her pride and joy.
Halina is survived by her three children, Tamara (Ruszkiewicz) Porter, Andrea (Mike) Saricos, and David Ruszkiewicz; her five grandchildren, Stefanie (Juan) Solano, Kevin Porter, Stephen Saricos, and Dylan and Hannah Ruskiewicz; her three great-grandchildren, Camilo, Liliana, and Mateo Solano; and her sister, Ava (Herbert) Allison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Ruszkiewicz; parents, Bronislaw and Zofia (Kudas) Czyz from Ostrowicz SW, Poland; and aunt/mother, Janina (Kudas) Nowak.
Halina's mother passed away when she was very young, and she was raised by her Aunt Janina in a home filled with love, alongside her cousin Ava (Nowak) Allison, who became her lifelong sister in every way.
She will be greatly missed. May her memory be eternal.
Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
