

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Patricia Ann Cory; children, Michael (Tanya) Kurek, Dorothea (Bobby) Sommers and Rose Carling; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany) Kurek Jr., Katie Kurek, Donnie Vincent, Darren (Tiffany) Vincent Jr., Terrie Carling and Jack Carling; sister, Nora Lee (Jim) Doffin; brother, John Paul Cory; nephews, Ricky Kurek, Jerry 'Bugg' (Lori) Kurek, Stanley (Monica) Kurek and Adam (Nicole) Kurek; numerous great grandchildren and extended members of the family.
Preceded in death by son, James F. Cory III and sisters, Sandy Stocker and Rose Mary Collins.
Jim was born on March 19, 1949 in Hammond, IN to the late James F. and Dorothy Cory and was a 1968 graduate of Calumet High School. He retired from Inland Steel with 39 years of service as an overhead crane operator. In addition, Jim was owner and operator of Cory's Automotive for over 40 years specializing in designing and building high performance engines. Jim also owned and operated Cory's Slot Car DragWay for over 10 years welcoming all racing enthusiasts. Jim enjoyed holding special slot car racing events which would draw crowds of 200 plus.
On March 10, 1985, he married the love of his life, Patricia Keller and together they raised their beautiful blended family.
Jim was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many and will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Road Highland, IN.
