Obituary of Jeffery Allen Cowley

IN THE CARE OF

Kuiper Funeral Home

Jeffery Allen Cowley, born Oct 16, 1964, passed away early Sunday morning, December 4th, at the age of 58, after battling health issues for the past few years. Jeff served in the Air Force and then worked for the family business Cowley’s Lumber in Griffith until 2009 when they closed and then worked for The Beam Team, Xerox, Harley Davidson and MRI Sales. He had many hobbies in life, including golfing, Nascar, hunting and restoring cars which he started doing with his Dad at a young age. He had a passion for the road and driving, whether it be car or bike. He always enjoyed riding with his brothers in the American Legion Riders, making jokes and telling stories—never letting the truth stand in the way of a good story. He challenged people’s music knowledge, and loved a good history channel documentary or a spirited political debate. Jeff supported his family in any and every way he could, and was not one to doubt that anything could be achieved. Jeff loved his family more than any onlooker would ever know and would have happily walked in front of any threat on behalf of his loved ones. He is survived by his best friend and wife Mary Lu (Gregor), his beloved children Natalie, Mallory (Scott) Adams, Shelby (Simon Davies), and Wyatt; his loving sister Jacquetta (Kelley Carden) and many more. Jeff found his best role in life as Pop Pop. He leaves behind his grandchildren Felicity & Dawson Adams and Ariana Cowley, who will forever remember that they had the most loving Pop Pop. They will always have a piece of him in their hearts, because Pop Pop is unforgettable, and he will always protect them in life or death come hell or high water. He is preceded in this life by his loving parents Gary and Sarah Cowley and his in-laws Edward and Dorothy Gregor. If Jeff had his way he would be riding his motorcycles to the next adventure until he was old and grey, and--if his wife would have let him--with a lit cigarette in hand, telling his then adult grandkids “Hey, watch what Pop Pop can still do.” He will be forever missed, but never forgotten. The family will receive friends for a viewing and memorial service on Thursday, December 8th from 4pm-8pm at Kuiper Funeral Home in Highland, Indiana. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.KuiperFH.com for the Cowley family.
