Jerry Lee Sumner, Sr.

Jerry is the loving husband for 60 years to the late Judy Sumner; beloved father to Violet (James) Rutherford, Beverly Sumner, Jerry (Debbie) Sumner, Jr., Tammy (Tom) Taylor, and the late Donald Sumner; proud grandfather to Joshua Nash, Melissa (Patrick Frey) Rutherford, Tom Taylor, Jr., Johnathon Taylor, Micah Taylor and Imagine Taylor, Richard (Sammy) Bartel, Jr., Mark (Susie) Bartell, Gary (Alannah) Bartell, Ashley (Dustin Guzman) Schmidt, Bryan Fraker, Jr., Destiny (Andrea) Fraker and the late Amber Hinton; great-grandfather to Landon Hall, Brody Hall, Evelyn Frey, Liam Taylor, Khloe Guzman, Kaylee Guzman, Tyson Guzman, Gabriel Bartell, Adam Bartell, Abaigail Bartell, Bryan Fraker III, and the late Dustin Guzman, Jr.; cherished brother to Ann (David) Walls, the late Jack Sumner, the late Ronnie Sumner and the late Billy Sumner.

Jerry retired from Sherman Williams Paint Company after many years of service. After retirement, he was a security guard for ISM Security. He was an avid Bulls, Bears, White Sox and Blackhawk fan. He enjoyed spending time and caring for his beloved dogs, Rascal, Chance, Rocky and Iceberg. Jerry especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 3, 2025 at 3:00 pm and visitation will continue until 5:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9030 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
