Joan F. Wiersma

JOAN F. WIERSMA (NEE LOLKEMA) HIGHLAND, IN Joan F. Wiersma (nee Lolkema), age 82, of Highland passed away June 19, 2011. She was born on March 8, 1929 in Griffith. She is survived by two sons: Jim (Patty) Wiersma of Highland and Tom (Sue) Wiersma of Griffith; two daughters: Kathy (Mark) Norman of Calumet Township and Pat Wiersma of Lebanon, IN; Ten grand children; Ten great grandchildren; one sister, Henrietta (late Hessel) Wiersma of California; and three sisters in law: Marge (late Ralph) Lokema of IL; Betty (late Ray) Wiersma of CA; Bernice (late Fred) Oosterhoff of IL. She was preceded in death by husband Herman and son Larry. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 at 9:30 AM at New Life Christian Reformed Church. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Kuiper Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hope Cemetery. Joan worked for many years for her brother as a bookkeeper and helped at his farm stand. She retired from Strack & Vantils after many years as a receiving clerk. Memorial donations may be given to Highland Christian School.
