
John Michael Kallok, born June 5, 1977, age 36, became one of God’s angels on January 1, 2014 due to an accident. He is survived by his loving parents: Catherine M. (nee Fercik) Kallok and Joseph Robert “Bob” Kallok. John leaves loving aunts and uncles: Patty and Tim Chierek, Ed and Nancy Fercik, and Karen and Nancy Kallok. He loved his cousins: Chris and Susan Chierek, Adam and Jenny Chierek, Kevin and Mary Chierek, Carrie and Jeremy Grant, and Tim and Jaimie Fercik, along with their precious babies and toddlers. John cherished his friendship with his best friend, Phil Cook. He will always love his special friend, Julie Heronemus. John was preceded in death by grandparents: John “Lefty” and Teresa Fercik, and Joseph and Irene Kallok. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held DIRECTLY at St. Mary Church, 525 N. Broad Street, Griffith on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 PM with prayers at 7:30 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN. John graduated from Griffith H.S. in 1996. He enjoyed his time as a “third stringer” on the football field. John had great respect for Coach Radtke and always said Coach was in line for reverence after his own dad. He graduated from Purdue Calumet in 2002 with a degree in hospitality and hotel management. John was a proud union auto worker employed at Lear Corporation in Hammond. He loved camping and his prized possession was his truck. John was an officer in the Iron Horse 4x4 Truck Club. Most of all, John was a most loving and caring son. He will always be remembered for his humor and big heart.
