John Glen McGeady

John Glen McGeady 1936 - 2020 John Glen McGeady passed away peacefully on September 3rd at his home in Long Beach, IN. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his three survivingchildren, Steven, Kathleen, and John, his nine grandchildren, and his brother Joseph McGeady. He waspreceded in death by his brothers Eamonn and Xavier, and his son Michael. Glen, as everyone knew him, was born in 1936 in Hagerstown, MD to Monica and Manus McGeady, the third of four boys. Glen grew up in Baltimore, and after he and Nancy married in 1958, in 1960 he graduated from the University of Maryland and went to work for Bethlehem Steel. There, in 1968, he started the Burns Harbor Data Processing department. Glen retired from Bethlehem in 1985 and later worked at Keane and Company as an information technology consultant. Glen and Nancy moved to Long Beach in 1965, purchasing an iconic Dutch Colonial adorned with landmark red flower shutters, where they raised their four children. A lifelong Bridge player, Glen founded the Michigan City and Long Beach Duplicate Bridge Club, which still flourishes. He was an ACBL Life Master, and found joy in teaching Bridge to many. He and Nancy were avid travelers, his home office decorated with the flags of the 37 countries they visited, as well as every US state. Glen loved seeing his children and grandchildren, and hosted family reunions in Ireland, Mexico, and France and in Washington State and Indiana. Glen was a charming, witty, and wonderful person who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all who benefited from his love and friendship.
