John E. Sumner, age 65, of Gary, IN passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011. He is survived by his son, Shawn Sumner of Gary; three brothers: Wallace, Danny and Lawrence Sumner; three sisters: Sue, Valerie and Shirley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sumner was preceded in death by his wife, Georgene. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, June 2, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home.
