Joe was born in Hammond, IN and attended Hammond Tech high school where he developed his love of woodworking. He went on to be a skilled woodworker craftsman and made many things his family still enjoys today. He served in the Army as a certified dental technician. Joe maintained his military connection as a proud Veteran and member of the American Legion Post 485. Joe was an impeccable draftsman where he used his great skills and talents of making things to bring ideas to life at Superior Engineering until his retirement. Joe had the best penmanship of anyone which he accredited to his years of drafting and the skills his hands possessed. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, darts, ping-pong, and watching all TV sports that he taught his family to love as well. He was a charcoal grill master making amazing meals for his family. The large group of siblings and spouses had uncountable family events and joyous gatherings over the decades. After his wife passed, his favorite place to be surrounded by his friends was Al’s Tap. He made a family of friends there as well. He was cherished by his neighbors and felt blessed to have their support.
He will be remembered for always making his family laugh with the best nicknames (Booger, Beener, etc), great one-liners, playing the same lotto numbers for decades, and in the special relationships and bonds he has made his memory will live on.
Joe has requested no services. To honor Joe’s memory, please have a beer at Al’s Tap for him, or your local place. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation in his honor to the American Legion Post 485 located at 7485 Burr St Schererville, IN 46375-3343 or any other veteran charity of your choice.
