Katherine Ann Zappia age 81 of Merrillville, IN passed away July 5, 2014 she is survived by son James (Judy) Zappia of Valparaiso, IN; three daughters Carmela Nowicki of South Bend, IN, Ann Marie Dillon of Dyer, IN, Lisa (Ron) Szangi of St. John, IN; 8 grandchildren, one great-grandson, one sister Mary Ann Uhrin of Hammond, IN, one brother Emil (Mary) Scott of Michigan City, IN; preceded in death by her husband James, son Richard, grandson Todd. Memorial visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 8 pm with a 2: 00 p m prayer services Rev. Theodore Mens officiating at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Rd (two blocks south of Ridge RD) Highland, IN. Katherine was a member of the Catholic Church, also a member of Croatian Fraternal Lodge, and The County Democrats
