Lil found deep joy in her faith throughout her life. Sunday school and church were steady sources of comfort and community for her, and in her later years she especially cherished the close circle of friends she met with each week. She loved learning and worshiping alongside them at Highland First Church of the Nazarene, and looked forward to their lunches and companionship afterward.
She was also gifted with her hands. Sewing was one of her greatest pleasures, and she poured that talent into creating handmade holiday crafts that became beloved keepsakes for many. Teachers often smiled when one of her children landed in their classroom because they knew beautifully sewn Christmas and Easter decorations would soon follow. Her creativity extended throughout her home, as well. She loved decorating for every holiday, and Christmas was always her favorite. Her trees looked as if they belonged in a magazine and her expansive Dickens ceramic village was a treasured tradition she set up with care each year.
Lil’s wit was another part of her charm. She had a quick, warm sense of humor that brought laughter into ordinary moments, and those lighthearted comments were a familiar sign of her loving spirit throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Franciscan Hospice or Highland First Church of the Nazarene will be appreciated. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
