Born on June 10, 1958, Maxine’s life was marked by her creativity, her compassion, and a deep love for family and friends. Maxine was a proud graduate of Tilden High School, where she finished with honors, and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts from Northwestern University. Her artistic talents and dedication to excellence were shown in everything she did.
She was the beloved daughter of the late L.C. Mack and Willie Mae Mack. Maxine was preceded in death by her late siblings, Leon Mack, Betty Jean Hackett, and Luberta Mack; and is survived by her brothers and sister, in order of birth, Frank Mack, Augustus Thomas Mack, Larry Mack (Yvette), Mark Mack (Joyce), Rhonda Johnson, and The Great Charles Mack (and the Charles Mack Band).
Maxine’s closest confidante was her best friend, Lisa Leonard, whose friendship spanned over fifty years. Their bond was a constant source of joy, laughter, and unwavering support.
Maxine’s greatest pride and joy were her children; Carl Mack, Adam Mack, Lesley Mack, and Lisa Mack. She also leaves behind five adoring grandchildren, each of whom brought a smile to her face; Christopher Tumer, Carl Mack, Jr., Raekwon Mack, London Mack, and Brianna Robinson.
Maxine’s greatest joy was her family. She also leaves a host of adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins—so many that to count them would be like counting the stars, “9 million and 55k,” as the family lovingly says.
Her children remember her in their own words:
• “I’ll miss listening, agreeing and disagreeing, and then hearing ‘I love you.’” — Carl
• “I’ll miss our shopping trips and our long talks.” — Lesley
• “I miss so many things about you, Mom.” — Adam
Maxine’s warm spirit, her generous heart, and her ability to light up every room will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the rich and loving life she lived. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and artistry endures in each of us.
A celebration of Maxine’s life will be held on May 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN 46322. A visitation will be held on Saturday May 3, 2025 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, also at Kuiper Funeral Home.
