Olga J. (nee Gotch) Dahlgren, age 101 years young, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 15, 2019, in the presence of her dear and devoted family. She is survived by her daughter, Carole (late George) Fozkos; grandchildren: Diane (Randy) Brechner, Brett (Diane) Dahlgren, Mike (Beth) Dahlgren, Dave (Jodi) Dahlgren, Brian (Leigh) Fozkos, Robert (Sherri) Fozkos, and Ric (Mary) Dahlgren; great-grandchildren: Ashley (Josh) Franklin, Brian J. Fozkos, Brittania Dahlgren, Brittany Fozkos, Carter Dahlgren, Cody Dahlgren, Dylan Dahlgren, Hannah Fozkos, Jonathon Olson, Joseph Doorn, Katrina Brechner, Levi (Rachel) Cowsert, Payton Fozkos, Robert A. Fozkos, and Tyler Fozkos; great-great-grandchildren: Jeremy Olson, Lewis Franklin, and Rhett Cowsert; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 26 years, Gerald A. Dahlgren, and son- and daughter-in-law, Gerald G. and Marilyn Dahlgren.
Olga and Jerry owned and operated the Schultz Park Food Shop in Lansing, IL, before moving to Highland, IN. She later worked at the phone company in Highland for 20 years. Olga worked hard all her life, and apparently hard work is good for you because she lived to be 101. She traveled extensively in the United States and enjoyed many cruises. Olga was very patriotic and truly enjoyed celebrating the Fourth of July in head-to-toe flag attire.
Olga was an inspiring role model and an absolute joy. No one will forget her beautiful smile and words of encouragement. She was a devout Christian and charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Highland, IN. She will be sorely missed and remembered forever by all who loved her.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 2:00-7:00 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 3711 Ridge Road, Highland, IN. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
