Paul Richard O’drobinak

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rebecca L. O’Drobinak; loving father of Eric (Betsy) O’Drobinak, Amanda (Ryan) Smith, Madison O’Drobinak; cherished poppa to grandchildren Jovie, Wren, and Ira; brother to Cathi Conway, Larry (Cindy) O’Drobinak, Diane (Jim) Grasha, Lynette (Cal) Sjol, James O’Drobinak, Lee Ann (Dan) Palmer, Jon (Brooke) O’Drobinak; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Sharon O’Drobinak and nieces Theresa O’Drobinak and Jennifer Burkett.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 19, 2026 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lake Hills Baptist Church 9209 W. 85th Ave. Schererville, Indiana directly followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.

Paul was born in Hammond, Indiana August 23, 1960 to William and Sharon O’Drobinak and grew up in the Hessville area surrounded by his siblings Cathi, Larry, Diane, Lynette, James, Lee Ann, and Jon. Paul accepted the Lord as his Savior at a young age when a stranger led him to Jesus in a local park. While attending and graduating Morton High School and attending Purdue Calumet, he worked in multiple family businesses including Luigi’s Pizza, Bonanza, Happy Joe’s Pizza, and 12 Mile House. It was some of these that led to his lifelong love of pizza. He was also employed by Inland Steel, TruGreen-Chemlawn, Fuddruckers, Gordon Food Service, United Parcel Service, and Rush University Medical Center as Assistant Director of IT where he spent his last 20 years of his career. He married his wife Rebecca Lynn Kuss on June 1, 1996 and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.

Paul’s true passion was in music. He was a keyboard player in multiple bands including traveling the hotel circuit from Minnesota to Florida with X-Dream, performing with World Without End where they ultimately competed on Star Search, was a founding member of Concrete Suits then later was a founding member of Gone to Paradise. There were many other bands along the way. His final musical contributions were playing with the worship team at Lake Hills Baptist Church where he was a member for over twenty years.

He also had his dad’s entrepreneurial spirit owning several rental properties throughout Hammond and Whiting over the years including his last on the intracoastal in Lantana, Florida. This is one of the many ways he was able to share his work ethic with his family. They learned the importance of hard work, quality work, determination, and how to make a house a home.

Paul led with a servant’s heart always wanting to help those in need. His many years working next to his dad taught him so many lifelong skills. He was extremely knowledgeable and diligent. If he didn’t know how to do something, he watched numerous YouTube videos. Everywhere he went he was always fixing something. It didn’t matter where he was. He became our family, friends, and sub-division handyman. Everywhere you looked Paul left his mark and left it better.

Paul’s final act of kindness was sharing the gift of life through tissue donation with Gift of Hope. We pray the recipients receive Paul’s love for Jesus, God, and others.
