Peter Huitsing

Peter Huitsing, 93, of Crete, IL passed away on August 30, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sadie; three sons: Gerrit (Sandy) Huitsing of Rockville, IN, Henry (Kathy) Huitsing of Lynwood, IL and John (fiancee Terri Hampton) Huitsing of Upland, CA; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Gerrit Huitsing of Crown Point (formerly of Hammond). He was preceded in death by a brother and sister. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland with Rev. Archie Bazuin officiating. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery in Highland. Friends may call on Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Huitsing was a WW II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Highland where he and his wife were custodians for 20 years. He worked for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad, Norwalk Trucking and retired from Preston 151 Trucking. Mr. Huitsing was an avid TV sports watcher and an avid reader. www.kuiperfh.com
