Raymond D Poirier

Raymond D. Poirier, age 82 of Crown Point, passed away June 30, 2016. He is survived by one daughter Diane (James) Larson of Cedar Lake IN; one son Joseph (Sara) Poirier of Austin TX; step-daughter Mardell (Paul) Oller of San Jose CA; grandchildren Brei (Dale) Depew of Crown Point IN, James Larson III of Cedar Lake IN, Jennifer (Brian) Krueger of Merrillville IN, Isaac Poirier of Austin TX, Tamee (Sean) Flanagan of Milwaukie OR, Melissa Henderson of Palo Alto CA; great-grandsons Brendan and Dustin; brother Paul (Claire) Poirier of Cumberland RI; sisters Theresa (Bernard) Cabana of Biglerville PA, Yvette Brousseau of Cumberland RI. Preceded in death by wife Robbieanna Poirier and step-daughter Glenda (late Jesse) Boone. Multiple other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Raymond was in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1956 and served in the Korean Conflict, rising to Staff Sergeant, and instructed others as a paratrooper. He graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in Metallurgy. He worked for U.S. Steel Corporation in Gary IN for 33 years. He later received a MBA from Indiana University Northwest. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, traveling, playing cribbage and bridge, computer games, and crossword puzzles. Loving Pépère and devoted Dad. He will be deeply missed and his memory lovingly cherished. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Road Highland IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 7667 East 109th Avenue in Crown Point IN with Fr. Thomas Mischler celebrating. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse IN.Additional Visitation held Friday afternoon, July 8, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church fromNoon to 1:00 pm
