
Rita Sue (nee Hoogewerf) Holevinsky age 56, of Crown Point passed away Monday March 18, 2013. She was born to Jacob and Letha (nee Masterson) Hoogewerf of Griffith on October 19, 1956. Rita graduated from Griffith High School in 1974, and continued her education at Davenport University and at South Suburban College. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior in 1977, at Gulf Coast Baptist Church in Gulf Coast, MS. She joyfully maintained her faith in Christ and shared it with others. She was employed by Deaf Services, Inc., of Merrillville, as well as Convo Communications, of Ft. Wayne, as an American Sign Language Interpreter. Rita was best known as a loving mother, an adoring grandmother, and a faithful friend. She was kind, patient, compassionate, and tender. She will be remembered for her quick smile, her infectious laugh, and her gentle spirit. Rita is survived by her six children and their spouses: Josh and Rachael Holevinsky; Sara and Zac Knoll; Hannah and Ben Milam; Bethany and Jonathan Buckner; Charity and Kyle Mann; and Leah and Bob Fraser. She is also survived by her children’s father Henry Holevinsky; her parents Jacob and Letha Hoogewerf; and her brothers Bert Hoogewerf and Dirk Hoogewerf. Rita will forever be known as “Grammi” by her ten grandchildren: Camron, Jonah, Amelia, Maggie, Lexi, Ellie, Westin, and three more (expected soon). A viewing will be held and Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland on Thursday March 21 from 3-8 PM. A memorial service will be held Friday March 22 at Bethel Church in Crown Point at 11 AM.
