Obituary of Rose M. Bowie

IN THE CARE OF

Kuiper Funeral Home

Rose M. Bowie passed away peacefully with two of her daughters by her side on Wednesday, August 17th, 2022, at George Ade Memorial in Brook, IN. Rose was the wife of the late Dale Bowie, who preceded her in death on January 8th, 2022. Rose was born in Ochsenfurt, Germany on June 11th, 1937 to the late Georg and Anna Popp. Rose was Oma to all her grandkids and Omama to her great-grandkids. Rose was called Oma by so many that were not family. So many loved to talk to Rose, just to hear her German accent. Rose loved America. She came to the USA in 1960, marrying a GI and received her US citizenship in 1964 at the Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. She was very proud to be an active lifetime member of the American Legion Post 66, in Crown Point, IN. Rose leaves behind her loving children: Wolfgang J. (Debra) Childers of Brandenburg, KY; Claudia L. (Dirk) Moore of Rensselaer, IN; Johnny D. Childers of Tuttle, OK; Kenneth D. (Karen) Childers of Moore, OK; Lori A. Rich (Scott Adams) of Morocco, IN; and Tammy Kurzer of Blanchard, OK; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; Siblings: Elfriede (George) Abercrombie of Augusta, GA, Annelore Phillips of Greensburg, IN; and Edwin (Renate) Popp of Marktbreit, Germany, and many nieces and nephews. Rose is being welcomed home by her parents: Georg and Anna Popp, her loving husband: Dale, sisters: Anne Geertson and Lieselotte King, and brothers: Friedrich and Siegfried Popp. As per Rose's wishes a celebration of life will be held by her family at a later date. A huge thank you to everyone at George Ade Memorial, Brook, IN for the wonderful care and love they gave to our mother for the last two years. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.KuiperFH.com for Rose Bowie’s family.
