Sarah Edith Clausen, age 95, of Crown Point, St. Anne, Illinois and St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2022.
Sarah is the loving wife to the late Willard Clausen Sr.; devoted mother to the late Donna Clausen, the late John Clausen, Willard (Emily) Clausen Jr., Spencer (Dorothy) Clausen, James (the late Elaine) Clausen, Gary (Carla) Clausen, Jean Ann (Basil) Galaviz, the late Rosemary Clausen, the late Mark Clausen, Vernon Clausen and Micheal Clausen; proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother of many.
Sarah was a faithful member bell ringer for The Salvation Army in St. Petersburg, Florida since 1962. At age 78, Sarah famously and heroically protected her Salvation Army Kettle against a runaway thief and attacker. She was then was applauded for her tenacious efforts with news interviews, including CNN. Sarah will be remembered listening and appreciating old classic country music, always on a diet, but never excluding Reese Peanut Butter Cups, and being brutally honest.
Visitation will be Friday, December 16, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral services at 12:00 noon at Kuiper Funeral Home (9039 Kleinman Rd.; Highland, IN 46322). She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Paul United Church of Christ Cemetery in Monee, IL. The family would like to extend gratitude towards Colonial Nursing Home in Crown Point, IN for their loving care they had graced towards Sarah.
