

Stanley J. Murzyn, Jr., age 83, of Highland, passed away Monday, August 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen (nee Sesock); daughter, Margaret (Jerry) Rice; sons: Patrick (Cheryl) Murzyn, Eric (Loning) Murzyn, and Dan (Kim) Murzyn; daughter-in-law, Caroline Eber; grandchildren: Kenneth, Amanda, Christina, Danielle, Ryan, Stanley, Harry, Brandon, Catherine, Elena, Christopher, and David; nine great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara (Elwood "Bud") Pierce; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Murzyn; grandson, Jeffrey Rice; and brother, Carl Murzyn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 10:30 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 3025 Highway Ave., Highland, IN with Rev. Edward Moszur, officiating. Interment at St. John/St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 2:00-8:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (2 blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN. There will be a prayer service at 3:30 PM on Thursday. Stanley was retired from Inland Steel after 42 years of service. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a lector and served on the Parish Council at St. Ann's Church in Lansing. He was also a member of Sunnybrook School Board, Lansing. Stanley was a member and lector at Our Lady of Grace Church in Highland. He was also involved in the Senior Fun Bunch Bowling in Lynwood, Calumet Gem and Mineral Society in Highland, and the Boy Scouts in Lansing.
