Tamara Stasiak Cox, age 75, passed away February 28, 2020, six weeks after surgery to remove a benign brain tumor. She was born in Salzburg, Austria to Alexandra and Josef Stasiak and came to the United States in 1950. Tamara was a graduate of Washington High School in East Chicago and was formerly employed by Inland Steel. Her Christian faith was very strong. She went on nine mission trips to the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and African countries of Ghana and Tanzania as well as New Orleans. Tamara's passion in life was supporting numerous charities. She enjoyed faith based music and books, crafts and crocheting blankets for those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Joseph J. and Edward and husband, Robert Dowling of Hammond. She is survived by loving sister and caregiver, Jeannie (Richard) Schmidt and sister, Anne (Stefan) Skotnicki; nieces, Jillian Stasiak, Lauren Schmidt, Desiree Skotnicki and Camille Garbe; nephews, Stephen Schmidt and Nathan Skotnicki and many dear friends. Prior to surgery, Tamara said that God would heal her either here on earth or in heaven and she is fine with either one. She is now healed and rejoicing with the Lord. A private service was held by the family at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
