Walter L Mauch

Wally passed away on December 9, 2023, while Leone passed away during the pandemic on April 11, 2021.

Wally was born in Hammond, IN on September 16, 1935, to Walter A. and Margaret B. (Manis) Mauch.

Leone was born in Hammond, IN on February 28, 1936, to Leo and Mary (Sabota) Zbikowski.

Wally and Leone met at Bishop Noll High School and fast became sweethearts. After Wally’s graduation in 1953 and Leone’s in 1954 they were married on June 11, 1955. They celebrated 66 years of marriage together.

Wally worked as an electrician and belonged to the IBEW Local 697. He worked primarily for Hyre Electric and become an executive in the company until his departure to North Carolina in 1990. Leone raised 5 rambunctious sons and 1 adorable daughter until they were grown, and then was trained in Court Reporting, working as a legal assistant for Charles E. Enslen Law Firm in Highland, IN and then worked for Gill & Tobias Law Office in Southern Pines, NC.

Wally and Leone were preceded in death by their parents and 2 sons, Daniel L Mauch and Gregory G Mauch.

They are survived by 3 sons and a daughter: Jeffrey A Mauch (Peggy), Scott D Mauch (Sherry), Eric “Ric” S Mauch (Kim), and Jennifer A Cortez (Leo).

A Memorial Service will be held for both on Wednesday January 17th at St. Maria Goretti in Dyer, IN. Visitation will begin at 9 am followed by the Memorial service at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Maria Goretti.
