John “Concrete Pete” Richard Hargrove, 70, of Keaau, passed away August 11, 2026, at Hilo Benioff Medical Center. Born October 13, 1955, John spent his working years in the steady, honorable trade of masonry, retiring after a career defined by dependable craftsmanship and the quiet pride of work done well. After his first mention, he will be remembered simply as Concrete Pete—an enduring name that speaks to the solid, lasting impression he left on those around him.
He is survived by his spouse, Lisa Rea; brothers Tom Hargrove and Chuck Hargrove; and sister Ann Burcham.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
