Lieselotte “Lilo” Santos, 96, of Hilo died on May 8, 2025. Born in Kassel, Germany. She sailed from Germany to America with her husband, Richard Santos in 1948, became a U.S citizen in 1954 and was a resident of Hilo for more than 75 years. Retired from the State of Hawaii as an employee for the former Hilo Day Activity Center (ARC) and a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 19.
She is survived by her son, Rainer Santos of Hilo, Hawaii; her 3 grandchildren Michael (Crystal) Santos of Hilo, Eric Santos of Hilo, and Samantha (Rocket) Roque of Hilo; her 3 great grandchildren; and her numerous nieces and nephews in Germany.
