She was born at home on December 16, 1930, in the bucolic mountain town of Newport, Tennessee, the second female to be born into the Stanbery clan in over 70 years. A descendent of pioneer stock, Adeline, hailed from settlers who were among the first founding families of the North Carolina Territory which later became the state of Tennessee. Adeline studied Art at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Professionally, she served on the staff of The Hunter Museum of Art and later as the executive secretary of The Chattanooga Boys Choir. She was an accomplished and versatile painter.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, Laurence E. Foster; daughters, Sarah Prichard Webb (Addison L. Jr.) and Cynthia Prichard Trimble (Thomas C.); grandsons, Addison Lockhart Webb III and Jefferson Lockwood Trimble, all of Chattanooga.
