Annie Bell Johnson

Annie B. Johnson passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025 at the age of 98 at her home in Queens, New York with her beloved dog, Lucky, by her side. She was born in Soddy Daisy, TN on June 19, 1926 to the late Albert and Lucille Fynes Cowan. She accepted Christ as her lord and savior at an early age at Stoney Point Baptist Church. She often expressed how she was looking forward to meeting the Lord and she was ready to meet him whenever he decided to call her home. She attended school in Soddy Daisy. At a young age, she moved to New York and worked for a publishing company until her retirement.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Arnedith (Glenzon) Hyatte and Helen (Robert) Starks; two brothers, Benny (Mary) Cowan and Edward (Alice) Cowan.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two devoted nieces, Marilyn Richardson of Moreno Valley, CA and Wilma (Tommy) Wills of Chattanooga, TN along with Raymond (Gwen) Hyatte, James (Linda) Cowan, David Cowan, Mary L. and Linda Cowan and other great and great great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Very special thanks to her friends, Julio Vargas and Lauette Mendez for everything that you have done! Also, special thanks to her neighbor and dear friend, Johnny Vargas who walked her dog, Lucky, and spent much time with her.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am -11:45 am on Friday, February 14th at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. There will be a graveside service for Annie on Friday, at 12:00 pm at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steven Bearson officiating.
