Mrs. Barbara Faye Smith

She was born on December 27, 1942 in Cleveland, TN to Earl Kyle Ruth and Virginia Florane Scoggins. Barbara graduated from Bradley Central High School and earned her business degree from Cleveland Business School. She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel Grayson Smith, on May 4, 1963. They lived in Cleveland, TN before moving to Hixson in 1976. Barbara was the office manager and co-owner of Danny Smith Sales, Inc. In her free time she enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, decorating, and cooking for her family and friends. Barbara loved spending time playing and reading with her grandchildren. She passed on her love of reading by finding new books that her grandchildren would enjoy and inscribing each book with a note of love. Barbara was a nurturing, thoughtful, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Daniel, two children, Jeffrey Dean Smith and David Reginald (Janet) Smith, three grandchildren, Grayson Morgan, Jillian Clara, and Josie Carol, her brother, Earl Dean (Judy) Ruth, two nephews, Chuck Ruth and Keith Ruth, and a multitude of cousins, in-laws, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm on Monday, June 5, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:30 pm on Monday at the North Chapel. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The American Cancer Society or First Book, a nonprofit org that provides new books and learning materials to children in need.
