Barbara Reeves Northcut, age 94, of Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025. Born on June 10, 1930, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Mary Haley and William Lee Reeves.
A lifelong resident of Tennessee, Barbara was a graduate of Red Bank High School. She met her husband, Leon, at a New Year’s Eve party and they were married in 1952 at Red Bank Church of Christ.
She was a long-standing and dedicated member of the Red Bank Church of Christ and at the time of her death a member of the White Oak Church of Christ. Within her church community, Barbara was known for her caring nature and her willingness to help others, often demonstrated through the countless meals she helped organize for those in need.
Beyond her service to the church, Barbara enjoyed many things including entertaining family and friends and hosting game parties. Her biggest pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Leon Northcut; daughter, Belinda Bryant; parents, Mary Haley and William Lee Reeves; brothers, W.L. Reeves, Jr. and Jack Nelson Reeves; and sisters, Dimple Reeves Whitehead and Helen Reeves Price.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Shepard (Jerry) and Jacqueline Northcut; four grandchildren, Joshua Shepard (Brooke), Trevor Shepard (Melissa), Caleb Kitchings (Heather), and Marissa Barker (Vincent); ten great-grandchildren, Stella, Leon, and Winnie Shepard, Jackson, Porter, and Deacon Shepard, Landon and Audrey Kitchings, and Samuel and Marie Barker; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 4th at 1:30 PM at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home where the family will receive friends after the memorial service. A private family burial will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
