She was born Becky Ty Lankford on August 31, 1953 in Ft Payne Alabama. She graduated from Ft Payne High School and Northeast Community College. She started her nursing career at Ft Payne Hospital and retired from nursing after 32 years of service.
Becky started her retirement in 2016 to travel and enjoy spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many events from wrestling & football to singing and swimming. She enjoyed rebuilding classic cars and going to car shows with her husband and sons. One of favorite things to do every year was to spend time finding the perfect ornament to fit each one her children and grandchildren’s lifestyle at the moment to give them for Christmas. She loved seeing their faces when they opened them. She enjoyed spending time outside in the yard playing with her beloved Doberman Zoie.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 34 years, Ray Carter, sons Travis Carson, and Kevin Carter, daughters Kristi Carter Manning (Richard), Angie Carter Matheny (Scott), her beloved grandchildren, Goose, Drew, & Taylor Manning, and Jackson, Jordan, & Morgan Matheny, her sisters, Beth Neyman, Hobbie Lankford, & Herbie King, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Becky’s Life will be held on Saturday February 6, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Smith officiating. The family will receive friends both Thursday 2/4/2021 and Friday 2/5/2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be in the Hamilton Memorial Gardens with a private family committal.
