

She was born October 17, 1927, in Vero Beach, Florida to John Gettle Evans and Hettie L. (Blankenship) Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Mose Kirby, a daughter, Joyce Elaine Lowery, and five sisters: Nola Rucks, Johnnie Tucker, Minnie Ferguson, Ada Tucker Stegall, and Linnie Evans.
Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine (Ken) Cardwell of Dayton, Tennessee, Billie (Louis) Wright of Hixson, Tennessee, Glenda (Efrain) Torres of Hernando, Florida, and a son, George Allen (Janice) Kirby of Brewton, Alabama. She is also survived by many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kirby was a homemaker and later a proprietor of a fabric store in Brewton, Alabama. She was widely known as an accomplished seamstress. She sewed uniforms for cheerleading squads and made quilts and crocheted for almost everyone she knew.
She had two poodles, Tiffany, and Baby, who were very dear to her.
Mrs. Kirby was of the Baptist faith, was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and was affiliated with 4-H over the years.

Chattanooga Funeral Home will oversee arrangements and transfer to Brewton, Alabama, where a memorial service will be held at Williams Memorial Funeral Home, 2353, South Boulevard, Brewton, Alabama, on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 2 o'clock pm CST. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Williams Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Cemetery, 4858 Old Highway 31, Brewton, Alabama, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband of 54 years.
