She was born February 13, 1924, to the late Alvah and Effie Casteel.
Mrs. Bass retired from BellSouth after 42 years of service. She was a member of Tyner Church of Christ and the Order of the Eastern Star, Ooltewah 365.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Vestal Bass; brother, Charles Casteel; sister, Eleanor Griffith.
Survivors include daughters, Pat (David) Hamlin and Valerie (Wes) Hunt; grandchildren, Beth Young, Amy (Vish) Satyanarayan, Allison (Chad) Eubanks, Marc (Cris) Hunt, and Todd (Natalie) Hunt; eleven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edna Casteel; brothers-in-law, John and Glen (Judy) Bass; sister-in-law, Peggy Bass; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to Angie Guffey for the loving care and support that she gave to their mother during the last year.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 3, from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the North Chapel with Minister George Cupp officiating.
Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
