She was born in Mayland, TN and graduated salutatorian from Pleasant Hill High School. Bettye attended Erlanger Medical School where she studied to become a Medical Technologist. She started her career at Erlanger Hospital and retired Memorial Hospital with over 30 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith.
Bettye dearly loved her family, enjoyed spending time watching the birds and her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James William “Jimmy” Angel her parents, Ernest and Marietta Boswell Phillips.
Bettye is survived by her sister, Gwynne Christopher of Mt. Juliet; daughters, Ivy (David) Cowan of Hixson and Amy (Steve) Pugh of Signal Mountain; son, David Angel, of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Brian (Amanda) Cowan, Chris (Adrianne) Cowan, Logan Pugh, and Kati Pugh; 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 10, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
