

Carl Edward Griffith, “Candyman” age 77, of Chattanooga passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 in a local hospital. He was born January 1, 1936 in Portersville, Alabama to the late Willis & Ruby Griffith.
Mr. Griffith a Navy Veteran and was retired from T.V.A and Combustion after many years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as janitor for 35 years.
He was an avid gardener and will long be remembered for his vegetable and rose gardens.
His sister, Lucille Griffith preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Flora Griffith; sons, Ricky (Donna) Griffith and Randy (Teresa) Griffith of Hixson; daughter, Lori (Dean) Tatum of Acworth, Georgia; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, J. W. (Pat) Griffith of Rossville; sisters, Barbara (Doyal) Jordan of Odenville, Alabama; Carolyn (Gary ) Basewell and Bobbie Hart of Gallant, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the North Chapel with Rev. Dwight Martin and Rev. Ron Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the North Chapel.
