Mrs. Elliott (I rarely called her Carolyn) was my first head nurse when I was a new graduate nurse. What a blessing for me to learn from the very beginning how to be the best moral, ethical, caring nurse from her. She was who I always tried to emulate. She is my hero.
Just a short memory---I was in New York for a conference in 1986 and as we were walking along the sidewalk I glanced up and there in the restaurant window was Charlie and Carolyn. He had taken her to New York for their 25th wedding anniversary as a surprise so I had no idea she would be there. But right there in the middle of New York with millions of people, we happened to see them and visit for a few minutes. It was a special time.

The best nurse manager and director I ever had in my 40 yrs of nursing. She knew every name of her nurses and never forgot them years later. RIP Carolyn.
