She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Walter and Letha Duke Hamblin. Carolyn worked at Pretty and Tan for several years. She loved to shop and enjoyed gardening. She was a member of Middle Cross Baptist Church. Carolyn enjoyed ministering to several people at Martin Boyd assisted Living and Manor House.
She was preceded in death by three sons, Victor, Richard and Russell Mitchell.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 44 years, Charles Mitchell; children, Lloyd (Jodi) Mitchell, Stewart Mitchell, and Lisa Mitchell Hecker; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Pat Carter and Helen Hall; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, November 21, and Tuesday, November 22, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at the North Chapel with Reverend Eddie Womack officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
