Chao Ruey Chang, age 84, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She was born December 3, 1939 in South Korea. Chao married her husband, Shou Chang, January 6, 1954. She loved anything to do with the ocean, fishing, cooking, and music; but, there is nothing she loved more than her family. Chao was known for making everything from scratch, and her sons named their restaurant after her, Chao’s Mongolian Grill. She was a devoted housewife and mother who always greeted everyone with her warm, inviting smile and eyes.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, older and younger brother, and older sister.
Survivors include husband of 70 years, Shou J. Chang; sons, Johnny Yung J. (Jackie Pen) Chang, Jimmy Yung J. (Shia Ying Vicki Liu) Chang, and Robert Yung H. Chang; daughter, Shirlene Chang (Danny Kuo Liang) Huang; grandchildren, Edward Chang, Elsie Chang, Albert Huang, and Brandon Huang; and one sister.
A funeral services for Chao will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
